I need to rant concerning the dumb motherfuckers at financial aid
Edited on Mon Aug-16-04 12:51 PM by noahmijo
Thank GOD this is the last fucking time I ever have to deal with these stupid dumbass motherfuckers who aren't qualified to count coffee beans.

This is the who knows how many times I've had to call or bug these people at Financial Aid to get their shit right, okay I was awarded x amount of dollars in loans (it's a paltry number still don't feel like sharing it though)

I requested that amount and what do these morons do?? they only credit about 40% of what I requested and cite that I still owe $720.

And of course when I request the amount awarded to me do these dopey fucks bother to give me a reciept? hell no NO PROOF as to them fucking up we can't have that!!

I swear you know these people this administration I bet it's the same everywhere they have these stupid fucks who aren't qualify to manage their own pocketbooks much less MY loans.

So now I'm trying to call them guess what? line busy why is always busy? cause they're always fuckin up!!! there's about a thousand people probably just like me who have just been stiffed.

You know it's enough that our tuition has been raised 33% in the last year! (Thanks Bush!) now they gotta rip me off here too.

A quick side story you know what these asshole did last year? my girlfriend had her wisdom teeth pulled and on that very day they inform her that they screwed up and she needs to come down personally to fix something that requires her to show ID ect.

So we had to drive all 15 miles through Tucson traffic and wait in line with hundreds of other pissed off people to correct an error THEY FUCKING MADE!!

Have I mentioned yet how much I hate these people?

Okay I'm gonna try again to get these shitbrains on the phone.

1. God, you need a new school...ASAP!!
I have never had a problem with ones here. Although the one at the Community College I used to go to charge for everything. I'm surprised they didn't charge three dollars everytime you had to go talk to their rude asses. I feel your pain though. I remember what it was like at the CC. Hope it gets better and gets fixed. Good luck.

3. I go to the University of Arizona
Edited on Mon Aug-16-04 01:12 PM by noahmijo
Ranked highly in a few places including my major MIS

Not ranked highly in service in the financial aid department.

As a matter of fact I think I've gotten better service at the Yonkers Raceway

2. Dealing With Incompetent Financial Aid Workers
is a rite of passage. It's good to see that major investments in information technology hasn't improved the process one wit.

4. Yup.
At my school, it went like this:

1) Wait in line at the registrar so you can get to the front and find out if your account is on "hold."
2) Wait in line at student accounts to find out WHY your account is on hold.
3) Wait in line at the financial aid office to find out what exactly is wrong with your scholarship/grant/loan.
4) Get a "OK" note from financial aid after you remind them - again - why this is the case. (Whether it's because the loan check is mailed later, or the scholarship is mailed to you directly, etc.)
5) Wait in line at student accounts again, to give them the note saying that it's OK. Get your account un-"hold"ed.
6) Return to the registar line so you can sign up for your classes.

Same fuckin' routine every goddamn semester.

6. Why don't you people register the semester before like everyone else?
That is fucked up. Ours starts after fall break and before spring break. We enroll when we get around to it BEFORE the next semester. Everything is ready for us when we get back.

7. Because that's not how they did things at my school.
This was only about 10-12 years ago, too. My cousin is going there now and apparently things have improved moderately - they'll e-mail you now ahead of registration day if your account is on hold. So they save you one wait.

10. my school registers the semester before too
but we still get the same quality lines. We just get to stand in them in November and April, not August and January!

8. ooh, you're lucky!
we were always given initial anonymous holds. So you had to stand in an extra line to find out what department the hold originated in. Which of course was always financial aid, or fucking IT because my school has dropped paper quotas and now chrges students 5 cents per page.

5. I used to personally go into the Financial Aid office
where I went to school. After years of haggling with these people, it got so bad that when this one particular guy saw me, he'd get up and go to another room. Damn, I'm effective. But I got my money!

14. "While we were processing your application we lost your application...
Please complete the enclosed forms and return them to the finaincial aid office by yesterday."

That is what happened to my husband when he applied for financial aid in the 80's. We jumped through all the hoops only to have to file nearly every form again. We had no financial choice.

Turns out we did all that work for enough "aid" to buy books and a case of ramen and that was about it.

It must be in their mission statement to make it difficult. If it were easy, then everybody would want financial aid, right?

It's the only government agency where I've run into institutionalized strategic incompetence.

15. Ahh... the wonderful financial aid office.
It's one of life's universal truths - I think every university has the same problem. Financial aid is so complicated, even those who are supposed to know what they are doing usually haven't a clue. Hope you get everything straightened out without too much additional frustration!

 <---- Figured you might need one of these :)
