Edited on Wed Sep-03-03 01:18 PM by SoCalDem
I am one of the "lazy old ladies" who started with AOL, and who has tried many others, but likes aol best..

It's easy, and I am a simpleton... a perfect fit :)

anyway.. the new 9.0 for broadband has been great.. when there's a spam email, I just highlight it and hit the new spam button.. It's gone forever and I get a message saying that they have taken me off the list.. My e-mail has gone from HUNDREDS of JUNK every day to less than FIVE.. ..

Now when someone I know, e-mails me, I can actually see it :):)

1. Me too!

I almost hate to admit it since everyone hates it so much but I started with it so many years ago and just find the others "clunky" in comparison. Yes, my spam is almost gone and it is lovely. No one wants to make my penis bigger then sell me viagra anymore! I also don't miss all the lonely women who were looking for a man like me. It is a good program if I could just figure out why it won't recognise java.

On Edit must be an old Kansas gal thing

11. YES!
And the 81 is for the year when my daughter was born here.
I am so glad to see another Democrat in this State.

7. Left Kansas a long time ago...1979
.. I have only been back a few times since.. My home town has not "aged gracefully" (Salina).. When I went back last year for my mother's funeral, I was surprised to see that even though it had grown tremendously, it was not "better"...

As much as I gripe about Calif, I could never live in Kansas again :(

12. I understand
My daughter went to France to study French for a year when she was in 11th grade. Did not want to come back. Could not really give her any convincing arguments to do so. I was really sad to be separated from her so early by so many miles but all I can say is that we did the right thing. She is now in Germany studying.

13. My son went to college in Florence Italy..
It cost a bunch, but what a great place to be a young guy.. He traveled all over Eurpoe and made many great friends..

And it's something that he will always remember :)

2. I concur- AOL 9.0 has been good- if only for the spam blocker
and most important, so far it hasn't destroyed our computer like 8.0 did.

5. I have 8.0
haven't tried 9.0 yet. Is it really any better?
8.0 hasn't ruined my computer but 6.0 sure did !

9. If you have dsl or cable internet...DO IT..
The only difference I see is the e-mail blocker, and it's faster than 8.0.. I do not use any of their "special features", so I don't know about the rest of it :)

10. There's no reason to handicap broadband with AOL
There's several excellent pop up blockers available, including Google's toolbar, that don't cost extra per month that AOL does.

As far as spam goes, I've had cable for years now and I only get spam when I put my email address in a form on a website and don't check the "please don't drown me in spam" box.
