it was hard to choose. For overall talent, I'd say Smokey Robinson. He even produced and wrote some of the Temptations' stuff.

2. I will take Motown in the 60s, first.

Far better, IMO. My favorite Motown song from then is "The Incrowd", by Dobey Gray. High school music for me.

"Talking Book", "Innervisions", "Fulfillingness" were all part of the soundtrack of my college years. I'm afraid he lost me with "Songs In The Key Of Life", though.
