Posting on DU: A Survival Guide (revisited)

Posting on DU can be one of the best experiences on the information superhighway




In many of the threads you will find comradery unparelleled




You will find people who will care about what happens to you should martial law be enacted




You will find people who heard pigboy say things that you heard and responded with the same disbelief and awe as you did





You might even discover that people in close proximity to you want to scream when listening to the lies on the evening news.





From time to time however, flame wars engulf the various discussion topics.




You will recognize them when you see them...trust me! :evilgrin:




In the column of the various headers you will see numbers that will warn you of potential danger




Or someone who has left a thread will tip you off as to the nature of the thread




The Green/Dem wars for instance




Some will venture into these threads with noble intentions




and attempt to inject some reason into the conversation




Others will take a much more practical approach!





By making a cursory observation prior to entering.




and depart the area of danger toute suite!




Others, however, are quite immune to the process and find it stimulating to enter




But even they cannot always guarantee their own well being in the matter.




nor their ability to effectively process what just happened to them.




Some might even find themselves quite damaged by the situation




and wish to wash their hands of it




By following up with a thread announcing their departure :evilgrin: (it's a little levity ..ok?)





Odds are...they'll be back!




Because no matter how putrid it sometimes gets




No matter the coping skills necessary to survive the threads





This is still home




and we are all still one big happy yet slightly (ok not so slightly) dysfunctional family!
