What's the point of a "buddy list"

I just sorta noticed that there's a "Buddy List" feature. Well, I've long noticed it, but never thought about it. But tonight I have. Does it DO anything? Or is it just a reference list I can look at and say "Oh! These are my friends!"

1. One use is

being able to private message people pertinent to certain issues easily, without having to search for their profile or reply to one of their p. messages.

edit: maybe for that reason it'd be better to not have to go through the inbox to get to the buddy list?

If you click the little icon to the right of the mailbox, you can start a "buddy list" of your DU buddies...then when you are lonely and ready to end it all...you can look at the list and say...no..I can't do it...my buddies will miss me....and if you want to send them mail and they haven't posted recently ..it makes it easier. :D

Of course, they should really let you rename it "people who don't hate me for owning a nice car" :evilgrin:

I finally just started playing with things and figured it out for myself. If there is anyone you send a PM to once in a while, you'd want to put them in your buddy list. Otherwise you gotta go find something they posted to PM them. That's what I use it for.
