LONDON (Reuters) - The steam train used in the Harry Potter (news - web sites) films has been forced off the rails after vandals caused thousands of dollars worth of damage, the Sun newspaper reported on Thursday.
The Hogwarts Express, which was hired by Warner Bros for the blockbuster films, has been covered in graffiti which is estimated to cost up to $5,000 to remove.
"It's just a shame Harry is not around at the moment to turn them into frogs," one worker from the station yard told the Sun newspaper.
In the best-selling books by J.K. Rowling (news - web sites), the Hogwarts Express takes Harry and his friends from platform 9 and 3/4 to the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
In its more mundane existence, it carries tourists between the seaside resort of Scarborough and York.
