Those who know me on this board also know I'm a MCSE and all that...
(which means I know everything about a computer (Yeah, right...sure, Pal!)

Anyway, I get this call today from a lady on a pay-phone who has a computer problem and I told her I'd see her in the morning (she's 25 mile away, so I can't ask her any thing else)

She's running XP home edition on a HP 7915 (40m HD...125 memory..1.1 processor, NTFS file sys)

When she goes on the internet (via Earthlink) she hooks up fine but about 2 minutes after logging on, she gets a message that says her Ras is shutting down ( I THINK she said RAS but am not sure)

Any of you techs know or have heard of a similar problem.
Sounds like a virus to me but couldn't find anything on the web that specifically pointed me in that direction.

Any Ideas??

1. Virus

download the fixes tonight and burn them to CD. I'd suggest getting the usual's, Mcafee and Nortins and even the more recent windows updates.

2. Remote Access Service?

There are some toolbar applications these days that keep a connection going - when they go bad, the operating system modules complain. When she gives you the exact error message, you'll know the source - expect more than one dialog box.
