Wow, a republican co-worker pointed out something odd today
She was reading the newspaper. There was a story about this guy with a gondola whose service is to paddle the thing down the St Croix river for a short spell then back.

What they don't say is how much he's charging in order to build his upper body strength: $100 per couple.

Now this republican is sitting next to me, appalled over this! I mean, here is a guy who is an entreprenuer!

Actually I agree with her, this is just wrong.

Oh well, at lease CEO pay is stable for 2003... Those CEOs surely deserve it... http://www.twincities.com/mld/pioneerpress/business/5827869.htm :eyes:

2. Huh?
"What they don't say is how much he's charging in order to build his upper body strength: $100 per couple."

Nice wording. For building upper-body strength? How about, for sacrificing his body to service the local economy? Any way you word it, its the simple fact: He provides a service, and people pay for it. A *real* service. Not some bullshit like Bush buying the Rangers then selling them for 8 times the taxpayer dollar.

Most likely, he bought/made that boat. Looks quite nice, from the link. He also has the physical capability and life-experience to commandeer the thing.

So if you wanna slam the guy for actually being an entrepreneur, for delivering a service that people pay $100 per couple, or whatever, fine.

The simple fact is, *you* could steal his business for $90 a couple, if you are actually capable.

Seriously. Then look who would be bitchin. Not you for sure.

3. So what do YOU think is a fair rate?
Like most savvy bid-ness-men, he charges what the market will bear. There must be plenty of folks willing to shell out a C-note to be pushed up and down the St. Croix, or he wouldn't charge that much...
