Cop jailed after voodoo curse backfires

A police officer has been jailed for four months in Equatorial Guinea after a voodoo curse he put on his boss backfired, a report on national radio in the tiny Gulf of Guinea country has said.

Police officer Atanasio Mico Nguema cut a small piece of cloth from the armchair his boss, a lieutenant-colonel, used to sit in, with a view to using it in a concoction that would help him to keep his job, Wednesday's radio report quoted the accused as saying.

Unfortunately, the lieutenant-colonel died a few months later after a long illness.
