Poll question: What is your favorite Mrs. Miller cover?
Edited on Fri Sep-05-03 12:02 AM by Jack Rabbit
Since we've had an awful lot of polls about favorite hits by rock stars and groups lately -- many of which were forgetable artists and even some that were downright awful -- I thought I'd provide the favorite song poll to end all favorite song polls.

For those of you who have forgotten the incomparable Mrs. Miller, or just don't know the first thing about her, please click here.

7. Elva Miller
the "singing grandmother" of the mid-60's. Was replaced by Tiny Tim on the novelty song circuit.

2. good lord
My dad had a Mrs. Miller LP -- as a goof, I hasten to add. Haven't thought of that album -- or her singing -- in years .

'til now.

3. I have lots of MM MP3s
Thank God for Napster!

I remember posing for one of those pastel portrait guys at the 1967 Calgary Stampede, when I was nine. My mom still has the picture. In it, I have this mysterious Mona Lisa-like smile on my face, and that's because they were playing Mrs. Miller songs while I was sitting for the portrait. That's probably what made me into a Miller afficionado.

4. I just listened to her sing Downtown
and now the incomparable "A Hard Days Night" is playing. This must be a false memory but I think my grandfather had her album.

6. I don't remember her but your link is interesting.

It's a curious trivia bit. May I ask what brought her to mind?

8. hard choice
between hard day's night and downtown.

Maybe the Mrs. Miller fans here can appreciate my love of Tom Jones and Sammy Davis Junior. I also love all covers of the song "spinning wheel."

Now what in the world possessed you to remember Mrs. Miller? LMAO

LOL, my folks and I watched her on the Mike Douglas show one afternoon, and my dad looks at us and asks: "and, she gets paid for this?"

I shouldn't admit this, but I use to annoy my friends by impersonating Mrs. Miller - but then I sometimes do Julia Child when I cook. Hmmm, maybe the 'Mrs. Miller' diva will wake up my son in the morning for school ....

10. Now that makes sense
For those who have never heard Mrs. Miller croon the great songs of the mid-sixties, just imagine Julia Child singing. That would give one a good idea of Mrs. Miller.

11. This well could be
more than interesting trivia.

I wonder if someone would pay me not to sing?
