How many unemployed DUers can dance in the head of a pin?
Edited on Fri Sep-05-03 05:36 AM by Cheswick
Is there room for me? My temp job is about to end and there is nothing coming up. I have to student teach next month and into november and have no idea how I will pay my rent for the next few months or if there will be jobs available when I am finished.

Does anyone here know about how many credit weeks you need to apply for unemployment in Pa? I have been working since feb 3rd but I am afraid that wont be enough. I can't get a human on the phone to answer the questions I have. What a nightmare (literally, I just woke from one)

What is the best way to sell camera/lighting and stereo equipment and get a decent price?

On Edit: I am not feeling sorry for myself and you shouldn't either. I chose to put myself on the edge like this to finish my degree. I knew it wouldn't be easy with no resorces except myself. I only occasionally smack myself in the head and wonder why I went down this path. But a year from now it should all be fine, I am just starting to doubt what happens between now and then.

An aside....... you know how you have those dreams where you are not prepared for class or discover that you are in your underwear when you take your coat off?
I just woke from a dream where I went the the theater, put on my makeup went to stage right and had no idea what part I was playing or what my lines were. Then the curtain is rising.
I am finding this variation on a panic dream slightly amusing.

2. You're not alone
I chose to stop working for a company that cost me money to show up. In addition to a car accident, and the fact I can no longer work for morAns, I am trying to work for myself. It's a long haul. Two months without a paycheck and I'll be living out of my suitcase come this Tuesday.
There's a lot of folks here in NH in the same boat. Keep us posted.

Don't know about PA but in NY you need to have worked 2 of the last 5 quarters to qualify for unemployment benefits. If it's the same in PA you should qualify. Good luck!!

On edit: Try here, if you haven't already:

4. I got laid off a while back
The last day in January, in fact. I've been fortunate enough to keep my health insurance up through COBRA, but that doesn't leave much for anything else. I had a recruiter call me last week, though (the first in a couple of years), so I may start work soon.

7. Sadly, it seems like there is plenty of room . . .
I squeaked by earlier this year.

Wishing all of you the best of luck in these tough times. Hubby WILL be laid off in November; hoping he will find something beforehand but it isn't looking good; he's in (you guessed it) IT.

8. I don't feel like dancing
I have to admit that I never danced even when I was employed, but even if I had back then, I wouldn't be now.

Hard to sleep, hard to eat, hard even to think clearly. I suppose some kind of adjustment comes about eventually. So prepare yourself emotionally for bad times in the near future, but try to look ahead to better times some day.
