2. "Mickey" is Mickey Thomas.

With the exception of "Jane," his Starship stuff sucks big-time. Overall, moreover, he was so much better on Elvin Bishop's "Fooled Around and Fell in Love" -- which I have been singing constantly the last couple of weeks.

One of the truly greatest rock bands ever went on to be one of the most lame bands ever. Quite an accomplishment actually. I guess "Miracles" is a pretty good song...."Built this City" is so bad that I'm embarrased for them when I hear it. Maybe the worst rock song ever.

They were just a shadow of their former selves by the Starship. I saw them in 80 or 81 and I will say they did rock on Wooden Ships. Wish I could've seen 'em in the day...

16. "Runaway"

I think that song is really beautiful. Although I like Jefferson Airplane substantially more, I think Jefferson Starship did plenty of good music as well. I just approach them as two totally different bands; I think it's easier to acknowledge the good stuff by both that way (especially in the case of Jefferson Starship). "Red Octopus" is my favorite album by Jefferson Starship, although there's several I haven't heard.

Even Paul Kantner disses "Starship" (he gives the group the finger in the VH1 'behind the music' episodes devoted to Jefferson Airplane, and he's the lead singer!)

Dunno about Grace Slick, she's changed a lot since the counterculture attempt at revolution... :-(
