Why, oh WHY must they forbid me to scaver here?

At my local recycling center, there is a hand-painted sign hung on the fence next to a pile of throwaway electronics and computer equipment that says "NO SCAVERING!" I'm not quite sure what they mean by that. The sign is most dyscromulent.

I'm only now arsed to google the term "scavering." Lots of different meanings, from the looks of it.

This one http://www.geocities.com/jswortham/recycle.html features the phrase, "Now, not only is it unsightly to be seen scavering, but it is illegal as well."

This one http://www.calibrum.cz/vitaminy.asp?tab=activin links to a foreign-language scientific journal with an article on the "Comparative in Vitro and In Vivo Free Radical Scavering Abilities a Novel Grape Seed Proanthocyanidin Extract and Selected Antioxidants."

And there's this Russian site http://www.spbcas.ru/cfd/refall_r.htm that talks about "the unsteady swirled gas flow of the scavering diesel engine cylinder."

Weird.

Won't you people ever quit?

How long do we have to constantly tell you how dangerous, inappropriate, and just plain immoral it is for you to scaver?

Either they misspelled scavenging or there's some kind of recycle-speak combining saving with scavenging. (Or, uh, saver with scavenger). But you knew all this stuff, right?
