Saved by the witness!!!
Some of you may remember my post about an auto accident I was in last month. Well, as expected not all parties told the truth to their insurance companies. But thank God that a witness to my accident was willing to give me his name and number to help clear things up!!!

He talked to my insurance adjuster, and then after he talked to her, he was nice enough to call me back and tell me what he saw. (I didn't want to talk to him at all for fear of making it seem I was trying to predjudice his statement.)

But the AWESOME, WONDERFUL guy took the time to tell the truth! And, although I bet this will be in subrogation for some time, eventually it will all turn out fair.

But the ONLY reason is that this guy, a student at UCSF, took the time to make a statement. My hope is that if he ever needs a witness, some one comes forward for him.

God bless you, my wonderful witness!!!!!

1. That's great. I was in an accident last year . . .
the cop talked to a witness and told me he said the other car ran a red light. Being that it was my first accident and it was pouring down rain, I didn't get the guy's info my self. I figured the cop talked to him and would record the info. When I got a copy of the police report a few days later, there's no mention of a witness. It's a busy interesection in DC, there were plenty of witnesses and the cop talked to them all. I put up flyers, but didn't get any response. With no witness, the accident went down as my fault. An expensive lesson on my part for not getting the info myself. Though having had this experience, I would absolutely stop if I witnessed an accident.

2. Wow, so sorry that cop didn't do his job.
I was in an accident in DC years ago, and virtually the same thing happened to me. The other guy admitted fault at the accident, and I assumed that the cop would get it all into the report, as he assured me he would.

Well, you guessed it, the report was never even written, and my insurance had to pay for my damage, though we were successfully able to deny the other guy.

I feel like my witness is a karmic payback for my willingness to witness to an accident that happened only a few blocks from the one I was in, just a few months ago. Appears that I cleared up some important questions when I was willing to be interviewed.

The guy who saw my accident could easily have been killed by it, being a pedestrian who was basically right next to it. I guess that gave him a little more incentive than usual!

Anyway, I will always stop to be a witness, no matter how much of a hurry I'm in.
