He killed 3 and the 4th struggled and made the gun go off and hit his hand or wrist. And now the PoS is in jail, with a bullet through his wrist.

Shooting a dog in the head is a legally approved, humane method of euthanizing dogs so, in reality, he was just doing the humane thing.

I think that method is a little icky myself.

Laws may vary, but I've never heard one that says it's okay to just shoot your dog in the head rather than taking them to a shelter or vet to euthanize.

& i've been in too many animal cruelty flame wars to quibble. those pups wdve been terrified @ the 1st shot, & wdve smelt the blood & fear as their siblings died. there is NO excuse for killing puppies in this manner; they ARE NOT cujo. i had to shoot a dog in the line of duty once; i occasionally wake weeping of it to this day.

y'day i held ms. carole, my oldest girlcat, in my arms while my vet sedated her. i sang her to sleep, then cdnt avoid my tears as the euthanizing shot was administered. she died in my arms.

27. Speaking of one who has worked at an animal shelter

It is most definitly NOT a humane way of killing an animal. There is a decent chance that your shot, even one to the head, will not immediately kill the animal. It can then survive for minutes, even hours with excrutiating pain before it dies. And while it will still live, it would not be moving, and have shallow breathing, thus the shooter could easily mistake it for dead.

The only truly humane way of putting an animal down is to do a lethal injection.

3. There's something about cuteness that tugs the heart strings. I would venture that if it were the dog pictured in the first photo, one wouldn't hestitate to shoot it (if you're into that type of thing)opposed to the second dog.(i don't think the second dog is ugly). Personally, I can't see shooting any animal like that -- cute or ugly.
