4. Look for a short documentary called "Girls Kissing",
Directed by a woman who's last name is "Lee". It's out now, doing the festival circuit, and will probably air on cable within the year.

All your questions, graphically answered!

Wouldn't a neathderthal want the women he just clubbed and dragged in by their hair passed out on the floor so he can have his unfettered way with them? I mean, two conscious women in the same room, much less paying more attention to each other than to said neanderthal would seem to be too much for that tiny little brain to handle!

No, I think it is in fact the enlightend man who finds two chicks together as hot as hell!

15. Someone pitched this idea at me recently.
Women are thought of as the sensual, cuddly aspect of sex, whereas men are thought of as the brute force and rough aspect of sex.

When two women are enjoying each other's company, people think of it consequently as very sensual and very soft.

Two men are going at it, and people go "ow" because it's brute force vs. brute force.

51. Well, most people
and we are talking about your average dude here -- think of two brute force aspects and cringe. Think of it as two people punching their hands together as hard as they can.

Not saying that it's really what it's like, but that's probably why it repulses most people who it repulses.

men think that they possess the magic penis that will "cure" lesbians and enable them to enjoy men, the way they're supposed to. :eyes:

but on a serious note, some women really don't like "the act" even some heterosexual ones. mt friend doesn't like it, and her husband could are less...he thinks she needs to see a therapist because her pain is not 'natural.'

i told her she needs to dump him first, since he is not sensitive to her body or her needs...then see a therapist to figure out why she chose such a jerk in the first place.

I hope she heeds it.

I work with a woman who does not at all enjoy sex. It's really odd to listen to her. I suspect she does her wifely duty once a week or less.

When I was getting married the first time, my mother-in-law sat me down and gave me a little talk about how sex was my wifely duty, though most women don't enjoy it - I had to lie back and endure.

I was about 7 months pregnant. I almost laughed myself into a miscarriage.

43. Give me a break with this bullshit!

Over the last 20 years, I've befriended numerous people in the GLBT community. It never once occurred to me to attempt to "cure" a woman of her lesbianism with my so-called "magic penis."

Regarding two butch dykes: while it's true that I don't find that look a turn-on, I certainly would not deride two of them kissing each other. That would be an incredibly mean-spirited thing to do.

Sounds like you've been hanging out with the wrong men! Or spending too much time at Free Republic.

Come to think of it, those last two sentences are redundant. Peace. Out!

You said men. You didn't say some men, you didn't say unelightened men. You didn't even say chauvinists. I'd also like to add that very, very few men see that pic as hot because it represents 2 possiblities of "curing" a lesbian, or other nonsense.

I can tell you why I find that so alluring. To me, and lots of other men, women are beauty. Ask a group of women what is beauty, and you'll get varied responses from children smiling, to a sunset turning a moutain range purple. Ask a group of men and yeah you'll get varied responses, but you'll also get a large group of them either saying women, or something about women. My turn to say something unwarranted, there are actually a lot of guys who hold women in high regard, in case you didn't know.

A woman that I find attractive is beauty personified. Seeing two women I find attractive engaged in a kiss like the one in the original post is sensory overload. I had to consciously scroll down, if not I'd still be looking at it. There is no thought of trying to "cure" them, or even joining them. The pic in the original post is way "hotter" to me than what Brit and Madonna did. What they did was crass, commercial, and emotionless. This pic is sensuous, tender, and almost innocent. Qualities we men have, but will never have in the amounts that some women have.

It's a shame men are so threatened every time women open their mouths and express something they don't like without a disclaimer of "some men - not all men."

What a bunch of crap. I notice you didn't add the disclaimer of "some women" in your post. If you "some men" really held women in such high regard - you wouldn't get so upset and defensive every time "some women" express sentiments that you find disagreeable.

The truth is that a lot of guys hold "some women" in high regard.

So threatened, can we stop with the cliche, tired man-bash phrases?

I could continue with this pointless banter by saying that women are incapable of admitting they are wrong and lash out at men claiming they feel threatened and deep down feel that women shouldn't open their mouths and express something. But I won't. I know that that is a personality issue, not a gender issue.

64. Let me explain something

I have spent my entire adult life attempting *not* to be the kind of man who judges women only by their looks or who thinks lesbians can be "cured" by a "magic penis." And considering the family I come from, it has been a lot of work for me to avoid settling into that mindset.

As such, when I read the kind of rant that you (and one or two other women in this thread) posted, I do, in fact, take it personally.

And in reply to this question:

<<Did anyone suggest all men would?>>

Yes. *You* did! In your original post, you did not refer to "some men." You referred to "men." Next time, try saying what you mean instead of writing something ambiguous.

<<Just because this dialogue threatens you somehow is NO reason to call us freepers.>>

Why is it that when a man objects to misandry, some women automatically assume it's because he feels "threatened?" Perhaps you, Maxanne, need to examine your predispositions and prejudices before you petulantly rail against that which you do not understand.

OK, time for bed....

71. I see
Edited on Sat Sep-06-03 07:15 AM by maxanne
your entire life has been spent learning how to be a guy who doesn't judge women by their looks. That's very nice, and very worthy. Clearly you feel you should be congratulated for this. Sorry, I'm not one to congratulate men for behavior they should naturally engage in.

Instead you come along and judge women as freepers on the basis of a tongue-in-cheek conversation they are having.

Perhaps, you - Night Train need to stop worrying passing judgement on what women look like, and pay attention to your obvious need to control and dominate what they think. The condescending dismissals, the use of the term petulant, the suggestion that I'm railing against what I cannot understand - all hint at your feelings of superiority, combined with an inherant belief that of course a lesser being like myself couldn't possibly understand a big strong intelligent, and open minded (hey I don't care what you look like) guy like you.

Perhaps you are the one who needs to examine your attitudes about women, power, equality, and male victimhood.

I would never call a poster here a freeper. That goes against the rules, and it also goes against good manners here on the board. I respect your right to disagree with me, certainly - and I've enjoyed your posts in the past. But throwing around the term freeper because you don't like what someone is saying erases all respect and good feelings I might have had toward you.

47. To my mind, a better question:
why aren't most women as easily aroused by the sight of two guys, - even two really great looking guys, - in a romantic or erotic embrace?

I suspect its got a great deal to do with the fact that the trend is to sexualise, objectify women in our current society and culture. Men, notsomuch.

and I've no idea from whence your alleged statistics come, I would bet it has more to do with the stories of interpersonal interaction than the potential for gratifying stimulation based on physical interaction.

57. A lot of women do...
Edited on Fri Sep-05-03 10:36 PM by VelmaD
find the sight of two guys kissing arousing...especially two hot guys.

There is a huge online community of women, of which I am a part, that reads and writes homoerotic fiction about hot boy-on-boy sex. Go look at the hundreds of stories on the Boys in Chains archive - http://www.ravenswing.com/bis

And it is just a specialty archive for slave and prisoner fiction. There are much larger archives out there. This is something that turns a lot of women on.

If straight men don't get it - too bad. If some other women don't get it - too bad.

I'm a little amused by the amount of self-deprecation on this thread by men about men. Do y'all really find yourselves so unattractive or is it just necessary to publicly procliam "I find men unattractive - see I'm not gay" to shore up your sense of masculinity?

60. I didn't say 'all' women, or even imply it. I said "most."

62. You did...
just like I said "a lot of women".

I wasn't really "aiming" that post at you in particular...just adding my 2 cents. Sorry if it ruffled your feathers because that was not the intent.

I really do wonder though whether anyone has ever done the research to find out whether my "a lot of" is enough to be your "most". Would love to know how many women dig the boy-on-boy thing.

63. That's it exactly. Women are the semiotic for sexuality in our culture...
and marketers in particular know that (they don't know much, but they do know that)

70. You're just not talking to the right women.
There is an entire culture out there on the internet catering to the desire of straight and bisexual women to see two hot guys getting it on with each other. It is called "slash," and it is proliferating at an astonishing rate.

The phenomenon used to be limited to scifi fandoms (it began with Star Trek and branched out) but now has expanded to include more general-interest shows like Due South, Friends...I know someone who wrote Sports Night slash, believe it or not. Any show that has more than two hot male characters, and has a sizeable female following, has a slash community out there based around women writing hot 2-guy sex for each other's delectation.

It is true that most of the women who read slash like to have a narrative to go with it. In other words, this hot 2-guy sex has to be contextualized as part of some kind of larger romance--or at least a credible seduction.

Given the existence of this large and extremely excitable (and, frankly, easily pleased) population of 2-guy-lovin' women, why haven't we seen Ricky Martin locking lips with John Mayer? Well, because that would scare the men, and most corporate and advertising types still assume that the men are what's driving the money.

Just cause you don't see it, that don't mean it ain't there,

The Plaid Adder
