I personally like the kid, though I think the critics, especially the British rock press, orgasm over him entirely too much. And calling Jack White a "fucking ponce" was tres lame.

1. Not overly fond of his current poppy stuff

a little too Syd Barret or something, but I loved him when he was a youngster in Whiskeytown. WHat is he now, 22?

He's put out at least three great albums (Faithless Street and Pneumonia with Whiskeytown and Gold solo) before he turned 23. I'm 23 now and I can't even play guitar yet.

The hype on him last year went into over-drive. Yes, Gold was one of the best things to come out of 2001. But that's not saying a whole lot.
