12. Anchor Steam
Good dark beer, from San Francisco. Those of you who like Guiness would like it. Trust me. I voted for Guinness though among the options here.

22. I beg to differ
Anchor Steam Beer is a lager recipe that is fermented at an ale temperature (hence the steam) and loses something in the translation. It lacks the crispness of a lager because of the high fermenting temperature and the mellowness/smoothness of an ale because of the lager yeast, the worst of both worlds. Hey, just my opinion.

Interesting, Anchor Steam Beer was an all but defunct San Francisco brewery until Fritz Maytag (of Maytag Cheese) acquired the label and reintroduced the beer as a novelty in the late 60's. I'll stick with Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, a true barley sandwich.

6. PBR!!!
:toast:

I remember that beer fondly from when I was 3 to 8 years old!!

NO!!! I wasn't a preschool lush, It was the beer my dad drank on camping and fishing trips. Pabst Blue Ribbon hold a special place in my heart that none of these (to my eyes) johnny-come-lately yuppie suds can touch.

:9

For me, just seeing the can is a rush of nostalgic memories of muddy Tennessee lakes and TVA campgrounds. Now if theyed only make the old-fashioned cans with the pull tabs, I'd be all set.

It's the mexicans getting their revenge for shiting on their citizenship and making them work for cheap. So they sell a trendy beer to yuppies to drink in the summertime that they pissed in. I sypathize with the Mexicans on this one because the yupps deserve it.

Sam Adams,Petes and Michelob all used to make real good golden pilsners, but I guess no one bought them. Heineken pilsner on tap in Holland is great but they only sell lager here.

25. Homebrew.
I've never tasted a commercially bottled brew that compared.

Far behind a homebrew, my favorite commercial beers:

guinness
black butte porter
pete's wicked ale
JD's honey brown lager
sierra nevada pale ale
and a wheat beer I had once at a microbrewery in reno, nv. I don't remember the name of the brewery or the beer, but I remember being really impressed with it. Yum.

What am I drinking tonight? Wolaver's india pale ale. certified organic. it's ok.

Homebrew if I've got some ready.

Sierra Nevada or Flying Dog products, if I don't.

30. Chimay
"Chimay is an authentic Trappist beer that is it is brewed within a Trappist monastery, under the control and responsibility of the monastic community. Only 6 beers in Belgium can carry the appellation "Trappist": Chimay, Orval, Rochefort, Westmalle, Westvleteren and Achel."

Chimay Red:
75 cl, 33 cl (25.4 fl.oz., 11.2 fl.oz.), 7% alc. vol

First sold in 75 cl (25.4 fl.oz.) bottles, it is noted for its coppery colour which makes it particularly attractive.

Topped with a creamy head, it gives off a light, fruity apricot aroma produced by the fermentation. The taste perceived in the mouth is a balance confirming the fruity nuances noticed in the fragrance.

Its taste, which imparts a silky sensation to the tongue, is made refreshing by a light touch of bitterness. To the palate, the taster perceives a pleasant astringency which complements the flavour qualities of this beer very harmoniously.

Chimay Blue:

75 cl, 33 cl (25.4 fl.oz., 11.2 fl.oz.), 9% alc. vol.

Named Grande Réserve in 75 cl (25.4 fl.oz.) bottles, it is principally distinguished by its character of a strong beer.

This is a beer whose fragrance of fresh yeast with a light, flowery rosy touch is especially pleasant.

Its flavour, noticed when tasting it, only accentuates the pleasant sensations perceived in the aroma , while revealing a light but pleasant touch of roasted malt.

This is the ONLY beer I drink.

Of those on the list. But ah, the ones left out...

Pilsner Urquell, the finest Pilsner in the world.
Newcastle Brown Ale, a malty delight.
Spaten Ur-Maerzen, the fuel of a thousand Oktoberfests.
All the wonderfully spicy Belgian Abbey ales, dubbels and tripels.
Sheaf Stout--from Australia, a bit more on the sweet side
than Guinness, and simply delicious.
Seems I could go on and on...but I can't leave out the
distinctive brews crafted by the members of my local
homebrewing club. You really find out what beer is supposed
to be like when you have an American Pale Ale made with
absolutely fresh hops picked from the brewer's back yard.
