This is how I judge people:
"Do you prefer Leno or Letterman?"

If they answer "Leno", KILL THEM! They are evil, soul-sucking vermin that are using mediocrity, insincerity, and lame comedy to destroy us all!!!

:silly:

1. I like Jay Leno
I so very much disagree with your assessment. It doesn't impress me with your intellect that you'd make such statements. And I'm suddenly remarkably unconcerned with your sentiments in the matter.

2. Carson chose Leno so that he would never be in danger of being surpassed

6. absolutely
There was no doubt that Letterman was king, and had been groomed for the job. Carson cut his throat.

4. I'm with you Paragon
I'm loving Letterman more and more every day. I have watched him for years and had kind of tuned him out for a whil, I thought his show was boring. Coming to DU the a few months ago, I was prompted to start watching him again and the Hillary interview confirmed for me that Dave is "the man." He has really turned out to be the voice of reason I'd never expect.

Did you see him last night? He did a skit with a fake Bush wearing a t-shirt that read: "Recall Jeb." "Bush" was drinking O'Douls. Priceless.

9. Right. Maher's funny but Jon definitely beats him in my book
Edited on Fri Sep-05-03 11:04 PM by breezygirl
Prolly cuz I like Stewart's less confrontaional approach to making fun of Bush rather than Maher's in-your-face one. That's just cuz I'm a wimp I guess ;-)

7. Bill Hicks did a rant on Jay Leno...
...that has to be heard to be believed.

Not that Dave is a saint, either -- they cut Bill completely out of a show not too long before he passed away because they caved to network pressure about his material.

12. What if the answer is
neither? As in, I don't watch any of the late-night "comedians".
