I gave my mother my copy of Al Franken's book when I finished it. Her neighbor, who is also 79, saw it and made Mom call right that minute to see if it was okay if she read it when Mom was done.
Meanwhile, my sister-in-law (a hair stylist) whose Friday client list is made up mainly of elderly women mentioned to a few of them that I had been raving about the book. They have all asked if they can be put on the reading list (except for one who is on it conditionally, she's on the waiting list at the library. She only gets it if the library doesn't call her first.)
I wonder if we should let Brokaw know that the Greatest Generation is appears to be onto Bush* better than the media is. - Perhaps he could write a sequel about it.
