1. That one was easy. (Hey there, NightTrain)
Good question, and fortunately (for me, anyhow), it was easy to pick the correct answer (he said, modestly): "Rock and Roll Music".

4. Mekons rocknroll aka Memphis, Egypt
"Destroy your safe and happy lives
Before It is too late
The battles we fought were long and hard
Just not to be consumed by rock'n'roll
Rock'n'roll!
Capitalismos, favourite boy-child
We must apologise
Up in the rafters a rope is dangling
Spots before the eyes of rock'n'roll
Rock'n'roll!
We know the devil
We have met him,
Embraced him
And thought his foul breath was Chanel #666
Just like rock'n'roll...
East Berlin can't buy a thing
There's nothing they can sell me
I walk through the wall there's no pain at all
I'm born inside the belly of rock'n'roll
Rock'n'roll!
It's something to sell your labour for
When hair sprouts out below
I'm a microscope on that secret place where we all want to go
Rock'n'roll! Rock'n'roll!"

If you heard the cd version, or it live you'd be a fan of theirs for life. It's a brutal swipe at the music industry.

18. I'd add The Load out/Stay by Jackson Browne
It may not even be my favorite, but gives a nice perspective of life on the road - and that is Rock n Roll.

25. "The Load Out/ Stay" by Jackson Browne is great! So is

the original "Stay" by Maurice Williams and the Zodiacs (1963.) But Jackson Browne captured the Rock n Roll experience of touring.

23. I think my next homemade CD project...

...will be a two-volume set of songs like those mentioned in this thread. I think I'll call it something like, "Rock 'n' Roll Celebrates Itself."

Something for me to ruminate on as I travel the highways and byways of Greater Hartford making deliveries this fine Monday....
