Did Rush Get His Ass Kicked On ESPN?

"Rush Limbaugh made his "official" debut on ESPN's "NFL Countdown" Sunday, and while he didn't look and act like a big fat idiot, he did show why he so rarely engages in debate on the radio show that's made him famous.
Michael Irvin pretty much routed him intellectually. Yeah, Michael Irvin.
The former Cowboys receiver impressed me as nothing more than a back-slapping buffoon in a sharp suit during his previous gig, on Fox's "The Best Damn Sports Show, Period," but he had no trouble trumping Limbaugh's arguments as Limbaugh made his second appearance on the ESPN show."

1. I actually watched - just so I could criticize.

He offered some decent opinions, but it seemed that none of the other guys were scared to shoot him down. Particularly Tom Jackson - he looked PISSED when arguing with Rushie...

Michael Irvin made some decent arguments as well against Rush - basically, Rush speaks as a guy who THINKS he knows...the other guys KNOW.

I thought Berman went out of his way to make Rush comfy. Also, I don't like that Rush is at a separate desk - ESPN does that - banishes someone on the show to the kiddie table. I guess they do that because Rush sort of comes and goes, but you'd think they could clear a spot for him on the main desk. Another note: on Rush's desk, why did he have cards with everyone's name? Is he prone to forgetting names? :shrug:

Somebody who had time on their hands and a malicious sense of humor (not me this week) might listen to Rush's program , make note of all the racial cracks the flabby chickenhawk makes (the fake ebonics, etc.) and send them to Tom Jackson and Michael Irvin...

..Stu Scott used to be separated; Chris Mortensen is still at a desk where he gets phone calls on late injuries, etc...

Rush, actually made a point that I agreed with on a certain level: that the league's policy on requiring the interview of minority candidates for head coaching jobs could lead to tokenism on the part of the teams...he's right; it COULD. But, he was dead wrong on the more game-related opinions...

It's was my wife's "quiet time" before the games came on...she was watching "Solaris"

Yeah you coud see Jackson was none to pleased to have to discuss football with Rush and Young made a point to say that Ruch only had 3 challenge flags. He didn't look like he wanted him there either.

Maybe some of the e-mails got to them.

he THINKS he knows what he's talking about, he's opinionated and has a little knowledge which is a dangerous combination. I think it's a joke on the part of ESPN, to show how much their guys really know compared to everyone else. it's the ultimate comparison between someone who follows sports, and someone who does it for a living.

5. Michael Irvin was really never a buffoon

he just acted crazy sometimes but that is just his personality, he is very knowledgable about the game. But I did see it, they were playing this game and you can only pick a winner from only one game, and if your pick was incorrect, you can't pick anymore. Well he said that Lawyer Milloy can not "save" the Bills defense and picked New England over Buffalo. hahahaha Buffalo won 31-0. He did tackle the issue of mandatory racial interview which I sorta agreed with, but I didn't see any of the debates between him and Irvin.

Also, you can only pick a team once per season. So, TJ cannot pick Denver again.

19. it's an escalating game

you pay in a certain amount every week, say ten dollars. That week you pick a team to win a game. no spread, no nothing, winning is all that counts. Everyone who picks a winner is in the next week as well (for another ten bucks) Pick a loser and you are out. the catch is that you can only pick a team once. If I picked, say, the niners this week, I cannot pick them again this season. the money can escalate quickly if people stay in for a couple of weeks.
