Yesterday afternoon I took my son to the playground. I noticed a little movement in a hole in the ground. I got down on my hands and knees and peered in. It was a bunny nest! Five little brown bunnies were curled up sleeping--a mass of ears, wriggling noses and feet. Occasionally they would open their eyes and squirm a bit.
"Come see the baby bunnies!" I told the kids. Immediately the hole was surrounded by five preschoolers on their hands and knees peering in breathlessly. They were very good--quiet and didn't try to touch.

What a wonderful experience for them. Young children universally love young animals!
I hope no hunting cats or dogs are nearby. My cat killed a nest of baby bunnies once when she was an outside cat. (She stays inside now).

2. No feral cats, and the dogs are kept at the other end of the park |

Strangely, I think a hole next to the playground is a relatively safe place for them.
The area is overrun with these rabbits. Peter Cottontail has stripped bark and chowed down the landscaping. I still love 'em, though.

I love little rabbits. It's amazing how the beauty of nature can attaract and calm people like that. It makes me even angrier that there are people who continue to ignore this in favor of destruction. Love, Yaoi Huntress Earth
