Scott Muni appreciation thread
Scottso passed away Tuesday, at 74.

http://www.cnn.com/2004/SHOWBIZ/Music/09/29/obit.muni.ap/index.html

One the eternal voices of New York FM radio. Many memories of him, but I remember turning on WNEW the night Lennon was shot, and listening to his extremely emotional show that night. Very touching. He was playing Springsteen's "Jungleland" when I turned off Cosell and MNF game (Dallas/Denver, IIRC). One of Muni's finest hours.

RIP.

2. I remember him well
from NY AM radio in the 60s, then on to WNEW, and into the later years.

He will be missed.

3. He stole my girlfriend, back in 1982.
Hung out in the Idle Hour, a bar in Point Pleasant. Didn't really steal her, I guess, she just went on to him. Okay guy.

4. Scott was the best. I appreciated his Beatle hour every week.

I can't believe I'm not going to hear his voice again.

I guess he's with Alison Steele now (a/k/a "The Nightbird" of WNEW).

7. Alison Steele died?
I didn't know that. Wasn't she on "Lite-FM" fairly recently?

8. I grew up on L.I in NY. Used to listen to Muni, Steel, Scelsa, Macnamara.

WPLG,WNEW.... Radio rocked growing up. Live shows from My Fathers Place, Bottom Line. King Biscuit Flour Hour.

For a kid stuck in the suburbs, FM radio was the only lifeline. They used to play whole albums with no interruption.

I remember the cool kids used to cut school, park the car somewhere, smoke a joint, listen to Dennis Macnamara on WPLJ in the A.M.

Thanks, Muni.
