A clarification about use of the 'C' word.
Edited on Fri Oct-01-04 08:57 AM by Wat_Tyler
In this thread...

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=132x939074

It is suggested in this post that 'C**t' is used in the UK to describe 'girly men'. This isn't true. Where I grew up, in the central belt of Scotland, a c**t was exactly the opposite, it is used (quite frequently) to describe an over-macho, unfeeling hard-man bastard.
Begbie from Trainspotting is the perfect example.

Just to clarify - I'm not calling out the original poster, just clarifying a point.

4. Poofter.

Poofter, poof and other derivations originally signified homosexuals in a fairly derogatory manner. Recently it has moved to define what one might describe as a metrosexual. It has lost some of its teeth of late.

6. it was interesting
I have heard the new Green Day single American Idiot bleeped for the word "fuck" and the word "faggot" as well, on radio and MTV2 - which I do admit to watching occasionally.

I thought it was very interesting that they bleeped both words, but I wondered if it was true sensitivity to our gay friends that led them to bleep "faggot" or just fear of the FCC?

7. Hmm. I think people are just terrified of the censor right now.
Would be nice to think they were concerned, though, eh?
