I hope they keep up with the lawsuits. They will bankrupt themselves in the process and profits will sink faster and faster.

This "amnesty" is an attempt to save face with the music-buying public who are pissed off and taking their money elsewhere.

4. FUCK the RIAA

and fuck all the "artists" (and I do use that term very lightly) who feel they have the RIGHT to tell me that I cannot upgrade my LP's and Cassettes to a more user-friendly version.

I remember when BETAMAX and VHS video recorders came into vogue. Oh the people were all up in arms. "The public isn't going to go to the movies anymore!" "They'll be recording All My Children and selling bootleg copies of last month's episodes! Imagine all the $$ we're losing!!"

and look at where we are some 20+ years later---Video Stores are BOOMING. VHS and DVD Sales are BOOMING.

It didn't become the end of the world like TV/Movie producers thought it would.

I remember when the Cassette was the hottest new thing!

"We can't let this be legal! Everyone will just 'dub' their LP's adn no one will buy music anymore!!!" they screamed....yet that never happened.

Of course, now we're seeing a downturn in music sales----of course they blame it on MP3 and file-sharing---but perhaps, just perhaps it could be the fact that people are tired of:
1) bands/singers that are marketed ONLY to people 13-17 years of age
2) CD's that cost upwards of $20 each
3) Music that is as original as a thrice-made xerox copy

99.7% of the things we download are things that we ALREADY own on LP and or cassette.

I've paid my money back in 1985 when I got the LP, and again in 1987 when I got the cassette. I should not have to buy the same product AGAIN just to make the 'artists' happy.

Fuck that.

I will download til the cows come home...and honey, let me tell you, those cows ain't coming home anytime soon...
