Poll question: Would you pay, say, $40.00 to see Merle Haggard and Jim Hightower?
I want to organize an event here in Los Angeles.
Merle has just released a new album and will be in the
area in February 2004.
(SINGLE: THAT'S THE NEW'S- BLASTs THE MEDIA complicity with the neocons)
I think we need to have a HAGGARD/HIGHTOWER HOEDOWN!
TELL ME WHAT YOU THINK!

5. You might want to fix your link
but yes, IF I lived in the area I'd go. Sadly I'm nowhere near your city, so I didn't vote.

32. Oh, the irony...
...that the man who wrote, during the Vietnam protest era:

If you don't love it, leave it:
Let this song I'm singin' be a warnin'.
If you're runnin' down my country, man,
You're walkin' on the fightin' side of me.

is now defending the Dixie Chicks because

I find it an insult for all the men and women who fought and died in past wars when almost the majority of America jumped down their throats for voicing an opinion.

:wtf:

3. Keep it comin' love...
Keep it comin' love,
don't stop it now, don's stop it now...

I think this would be an AMAZING show!
I just wrote to Hightower's booking agency to inquire as
to his interest in participating.
Spoke to Merle's people earlier- he will be in the area
in February, so I think he should do a show here in the
city of fallen angels!

16. Tomorrow night I'm going to win the lottery
It's in the plan, so I could swing for the airfare. Then we'll all get a room in Merle's hotel. If only we could have electronic lottery machines like those computer voting systems, it'd be a for certain. Now it's just a feeling ;-)

You never emailed me back!
I sent you my numbers...WTF?

As far as getting Merle, I am bugging the crap out of him-
Emails, phone calls... I sang on the record "To Roy Nichols with Love..."
So he better not ignore me. or I might have to drive to Bakersfield and
kick his ass. Wanna come? Can we take your 'Stang?
We can listen to vintage Merle all the way there...it will be heaven.
I have every record he ever thought about making...including a
living room tape of Bonnie and Tommy Collins...

25. Cool!
And here I always pictured you as blonde. :-)

Though I do realize that not every SoCal female, even the surfing ones, are blonde....

And not that there's anything wrong with being blonde!

Or brunette!

Great....if I can just figure a way to offend auburn-tressed folks, I can at least count on having EVERYONE out to get me....

29. Years back
I bought tickets to see Merle at a theater in the round in RI. It was a birthday gift for my Italian Tenor singing husband. OK! I'm the Merle H fan. It was a GREAT evening. Merle and my husband shared notes..musical notes. Merle would point his fiddle bow at my husband and he would let out one of his high notes. Italians can't contain themselves when it comes to ...music.

I'm not that familiar with Haggard. I'd definitely come, tho-- except it would cost me $40 plus round-trip plane fare from the East Coast-- so maybe not.
