Soft Claws. Anyone use them on their cats?
Are they easy to apply? Do you use another brand besides "Soft Claws?"

Any advice on the topic would be appreciated, since my leg is now pinstriped, thanks to an aggressively playful kitten. :-)

1. Yes, I've used them on two cats
Some advice: Have a vet tech put on the full set for you, then it's easy to replace them one or two at a time. Also, we found that you really have to hold the cat for about five minutes afterward to let the glue dry.

Because I live alone now, I haven't been using them as much, and Papa likes to wake me up at 4 by "kneading" me, so I was just thinking that I need to get back into using them and ask a friend to help me.

Good luck!:hi:

5. Thanks for the advice.
How much, approximately, does it cost for the tips and for them to be applied at the vet's?

8. I can't remember how much they cost
They didn't charge me to put them on, because I've been a good customer (read: I've had a passel of very sick cats over the years). It only took them 5 minutes or so to do it.

7. I just clip their little nails.
Use an ordinary human nailclipper.... press on paw to extrude nails... don't cut back into the quick (you can see it). They don't mind too terribly much, and it's FREE and you get essentially the same results IMO.

9. I'm sure it depends on the cat
but it took three of us to put them on each of my cats. Me to hold the cat, a vet tech to get the claws to extend, and the vet to apply the tip to the claw. Nothing with my cats and vets is easy.

They lasted pretty long, though and the cats didn't seem to mind having 'em on.

actually the other night she smelled so bad i had the wife just hold her in her lap and i took a wet cloth and washed her down really good, and brushed her lose summer hair out.. she wailed like a banchi but didnt fight... and suprisingly didnt hold a grudge. she was in my lap in a few minutes.

11. I use them on three cats
front and back.

They are reasonable when compared with carpet and furniture.

I trim claws with clippers.
My wife fills them with super glue and I apply while wrangling cat.

Cat personality and your cat handling skills are key here. If you can't handle the cat without being bitten don't try.

I have grown up with cats and some tricks are scruffing, and inverting them. A scruffed cat on its back may go limp. This helps. You can train you them to be handled by man handling them. Touch their feet, turn them up side down. Any cat can be "trained".

After you glue them on you have got to hold the cat for a few minutes to let the glue set.

Wear latex gloves if you do not want super glue on your hands.
