It might help to remember the tobacco industry is run by rabid republicans, and with every pack/ carton you buy you are putting money into the hands of republican lobbyists and the Republican Party. A psych professor asked us this morning: "How many of you are democrats?" 3/4 of the class raised their hands. "How many of you are smokers?" And about half raised their hands. And then he told us what I just told you. What do you think?

In my inspiration garnered from all the recent quit smoking posting around here, I'm putting together my quit plan, and this is a centerpiece of it. Every time I smoke I think of how much I've just contributed to the Right Wing Machine. It's working - I'm down to ultra lights and just about totally bored with smoking. It's well worth remembering exactly where your money is going.
