Hi everyone! Windows Messenger removal help

On dialup tonight with my new laptop, although I could connect to cable modem, but the wife's asleep so i don't want to disturb her. I just want to be able to get rid of it. Any way?

1. Which windows OS?

For Windows 2000,
Open the control panel, open administrative tools, open up the services icon, scroll down, double-click Messenger, pick "disabled" for startup type, stop the service and hit apply.

4. And if it's XP, you can

go to the START button, hit RUN, type in MSCONFIG, and a tool will open up to allow you to uncheck services, among other tweaks. It's just one way to do it, but it's quick and easy. The same tool can be used in Win98, but for some reason they neglected to keep it in Win2000, although the Win98 version can be copied into 2000 and used if desired!

2. It runs as a service

Go to Start > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services and open properties for Messenger. Change "Startup Type" to "Disabled"

That should do it.

3. I just saw this on "Call For Help" today

5. Can't remove it, just disable. Go here.

Acutally, it was a reaming-out of Fat Tim Russert! The FIRST time it got kicked-back because of improper address. I can't get it out of "unsent messages":argh:

Each time I go to mail stuff-it comes up as "you have unsent mail"
