I will never forget the day I watched those buildings crumble into dust; for I did not see it as concrete and steel, I saw it as the thousands of human lives being crushed. The survivors - the mothers, fathers, sons, daughters, friends, extended family members, acquaintances; hopes, dreams, expectations, innocence - all crushed in a matter of seconds before my eyes.
Nor will I ever forget the outpouring of support and sympathy from around the world at that time of our national grief, shock, and mourning. It still brings tears to my eyes much the same as the shock of watching all those hopes and dreams shatter into dust with the fall of the most magnificent buildings in this nation. I DO know there are people still out there like you, Dirk39. Thank you.
I am SO sorry that those in a position to lead our country in a time of such tragedy of worldwide significance chose to USE the occasion to further an unrelated political agenda and promote a predetermined schedule of domination and arrogance. They have shamed our nation. Oh, they have shamed us, not just in the eyes of the rest of the world, many of the more enlightened of this nation, or just me; they have shamed us in ways that can’t be known without the hindsight of history.
I thank you for recognizing that we here in this nation are very much separate from the agendas and purposes of those that brought that tragedy upon us and our “supposed” leaders that have exploited the event and the mass partisan ignorance of this nation.
