1. call of duty and the expansion pack of call of duty
is a lot better than battlefield 1942. the expansion pack for call of duty is freakin addicting. I have an unhealthy love for that game. 1942 is ok, but the graphics arent that good.

2. I didn't care for Call of Duty much.
It's probably the prettiest of the Quake 3-engine games, but I just didn't care for the gameplay too much. I've started getting into Battlefield 1942, which, while not as pretty, is more fun to play...I even went out and bought a joystick so I could hone my fighter pilot skills. BF 1942 seems to require more teamwork and use of combined tactics.

3. They both play really good.
It depends on your PC, and your internet connection. the slower you are the slower the game play, and a lot of servers will boot you if you get to slow. All first person shooters are addictive, 1942 is fun, I like running over people. That is awesome. I also like Medal Of Honor.

5. They all have single player modes.
Medal Of Honor is the best single player. Call Of Duty is just to damn maddening. The Russian apartments about drove me insane.

6. I don't play online -- I generally hate multiplayer action games
Call of Duty is great fun solo, though, but even with the expansion pack it's kind of short. Though some disagree, I highly recommend it -- killing Nazis is totally cathartic. I like it when they scream in pain in German

I've never played Battlefield, since it's online only (I believe).

7. Battlefield has a single player mode.
I play it all the time in single player mode. I like hopping in tanks and trucks and stuff and just running over people.

9. They follow the battles of World War 2
The worst one is when you have to try and win the battle of the bridge at Arnhem. Considering if you are the Allies we did not win it. That one is tough.

19. I keep the churchyard captured.
you get tanks there and I used those to knock out the tigers. I made sure I was an engineer, and would find a quiet place and fix my tank. then just blaze away. It is not really fair though, for history purposes the tanks never made it that far.

11. I had a blast BUT...
That damn apartments in the Russia part just about drove me nuts. Your team just sits on their butts and do not help while I am fighting Germans coming from four directions. It was maddening.

14. The first Russian scene was great
They took it straight from "Enemy at the Gates" -- "One man gets a rifle, the other gets ammunition!"

The hardest part about the Russin scene, though (aside from the lazy-ass AIs supposed to be helping me), was that I could rarely figure out what to do or where to go.

21. it is frustrating that way.
But the most frustrating thing on Battlefield is how dumb the AIs are. Man you talk about a bag of hammers.

22. I just found Call of Duty
on an old PC Gamer demo disk. Plays great, lots of action. Now that I know that there is a single player mode on the full game, I think I'll buy it. Shouldn't cost too much, it came out in'02 right?
