Bill consolidation annoyances....
Edited on Thu Sep-11-03 09:47 AM by liberal_veteran
Okay. I admit it. Like most Americans, I have too much debt. So I consolidated before my job goes bye-bye in two weeks. The escrow service mails me a stack of checks and of course wouldn't you know that they mailed a single combined check for both mine and my boyfriend's accounts. We mail my statement and his statement stapled with one check that covered both the costs and what do they do? They credit the entire check to his account (which was about 1000 more than he actually owed) and I get a nasty letter telling me my account is past due.

Are people not paid to think anymore? Did no one question the notion why my boyfriend is sending them a check for way more than the payoff balance on the account?

I called the company and give them my account number and instead of asking how they can be of assistance, the first fucking question after confirming my account number was if I can make my payment today! GRRR!

"No, I don't feel a need to send you a payment considering I mailed you a check three weeks ago that paid the account IN FULL!" I gave them the check number and told them that I would check with the escrow to see if the check had cleared yet.

It occurred to me that my boyfriend had not gotten a nasty letty so I called and asked for the balance and found out that he had this huge credit on his account.

I got it all straightened out, but damn I am annoyed.
