Poll question: What would you rather do?
Edited on Sat Oct-16-04 04:19 PM by JohnKleeb
Ok y'all I just got back from canvassing which I did because I felt it right of course and I have a government project which requires me to do work for a campaign and I got 60% of it done today which was 6 hours, I plan to go above and beyond the 10 hours min requirement. The alternative is that you have to do a 20 page research paper with the topic decided by the county. So y'all here's the question.
Would you rather do work for a campaign for at least 10 hours and write a 1-3 page report on it, photo report on it or what have you, or would you do the lovely 20 page essay report. Plus did I mention, I've met some great people through getting political, and that many of those people kick more ass than my already friends.

1. The campaign work with short paper
Doing a variety of things would be more fun, I think. You'd also get some great experience.

:hi:

2. Thats what I said
There are some idiots in government class who think this would be so hard. I got 60% of my work done today, but I am not gonna just do the 10 hours required. In fact I've already done more, but I won't count my work in Eastern Pa or my Homecoming parade work.

4. Do the volunteer work
and the short report.

I feel you will get more experience out of the project this way rather than sitting in front of a computer to write the 20 pages.

11. Yeah
It's cool man, just clarifying. It's really easy work plus you meet so many interesting people out there, like when me and my fellow canvasser were out today, we needed directions so we asked this kid who was about 10, and the guy I was with asked, well who are your parents supporting, he said Kerry, so we handed him some stuff and he had an interesting view on how Bush fucked up in Iraq, we did explain to him that Saddam was bad but the war was wrong because Saddam had nothing to do with 9/11 and he didn't have WMDs. Yep we democrats love Saddam :D.

13. That's cool about that 10-year old
It's refreshing to know that even kids that age are taking an interest in what is going on in this world, with insight from his parents of course.

This project that you're doing sounds really cool.

15. Its pretty clear cut, its due after the liberation
Yeah it is cool about the kid, when I was passing out stickers at a football game with my young dems sponsor, this kid about the same age comes over and says can I please have a sticker, we of course happily gave him one and he said he was a big fan of Kerry and he had seen the debate. It's just great.

7. When I was in HS, I would have done the paper....
but I was rather shy and very liberal in a VERY conservative community. I would have either been forced to be confrontational or been forced to lie about who I was.

Now? Here? I'd do the volunteer work because I'm not so shy anymore and my community is safer for me as a liberal.

10. Well I know how being shy is
but even if I lived in a more conservative area, I'd still do the work because really it aint all just talking. BTW the idiots in my class who say they'd rather do the paper are the same ones who complain about how hard everything is and shit, god they make me feel like some intelluctal, I hate being made to feel like that, I am a dumbass just like everyone else is heh.

18. Sounds like the idiots in your class are complaining to hear their voices.
I've got a cat like that. She'll sit under the AC vent or in front of the fan and then complain that she's f-f-f-freezing....

Whiners.

You're doing the right thing, JK.

19. I hate having to sound intelluctual because the truth is
I am average as far as everything goes, I ain't incredibly smart or knowledgable I don't think. They're just idiots, it's not hard to do and as I said you meet people through it, and besides its the right thing to do well if you work for a dem ;).
