I am feeling down.
I still need to get my car fixed. It has been in disrepair for 6 months. I can't start it because the battery is too low and jumper cables wouldn't help. I could have tried fixing the car up a few months ago, but I didn't make it a priority. Now they are threatening to tow the car. I am also having trouble on my current stats homework. I am afraid that I won't make it through grad school. And if I do, there won't be any jobs out there for me. I am tired of failing. I am afraid of what will happen with this election. I hope we win and we can start setting things to right, but I fear that we won't win. The problem is, I felt pretty good earlier this week.

1. Ah, but alas....
tomorrow is another day. Thank God for air to breathe (at least until election day - then, if Bush gets to steal it again, even THAT will be in trouble).

3. Ford Taurus.
I should have taken the opportunity to get it fixed earlier. I now can't start the car because I have not driven it in over 4 months.

5. aw heck ....
Get SOMEONE to help you start it: It WILL start ....

Do you have decent cables ? ... if you dont: find someone who does ....

With a jumper battery and a little time to get gas to the cylinders: that thing should fire up .... Im sure it is Fuel Injected, so priming is unnecessary ... but you need to get the electrical system working enough to run the electric fuel pump long enough to send gas to the intake manifold ... you may need to buy another battery and/or alternator in the end ...

Dont give up: you can whip this ....

Again: good luck ...

7. I tried jumping the car for 10 minutes. Maybe 15.
The car would not start after that. It didn't work.

4. Sounds like you need a shot of unfounded optimism ....
I know it's hard: Even though it feels like the right thing for the moment, sinking into darkness wont solve your problems .....

EVEN IF we don't win (I think we will), YOU still have to fix your car and get your homework in order ... You DO have a bright future, no matter who wins, because YOU can buck the tide and succeed through sheer power of will ...

Can you find another place to put the car ? ... somewhere where you can work on it more ? ... Is the battery the problem ? .. it wont take a charge ? ... Can anyone else give you a hand with this ? ...

If I were there: I would certainly do something to help: Are there ANY DUers in CO who could help this poster ? ...

I sure hope so: We all need a hand up occasionally: I know I came to DU when I felt down about my unemployment, and they were there for me to give encouragement: I now have a low paying job: it isnt a great job, but its helping .... I know my problems are to be solved step by step, and it will take some time to clear everything up .... Neither Bush nor Kerry will be of any immediate help no matter WHO wins ....

In the long term: It ABSOLUTELY matters who wins: in the short term: you need to get your car moved and/or working ....

One step at a time .... good luck ...

PS BTW ? ... do you have a beer handy ? .... I would drink one about now ...

9. I hate that this cliche is true, but
What will be, will be.

I hate that saying with a passion. And it pisses me off that I'm finding it to be true.

And I say that as a fellow grad student who is probably going to get her 2nd C in a grad school class, and be kicked out of her graduate program. And I just spent 400 bucks I didn't have fixing my used car that I bought less than 2 months ago because my good car was totalled in an accident I had.

But, life goes on. Barring death (which at times doesn't look that bad!) you're going to be okay. You really will be.
