2. Who's school hasn't he come to? :)
Seriously, he's played every high school known to man. He is quite a well-known artist, especially among high-school and college trumpet players, where he's considered a god. He can't play as well as he used to nowadays, but his band always kicks ass.

19. Jazz can be an acquired taste
Edited on Fri Sep-12-03 07:37 PM by supernova
but it's one worth acquiring, IMO. Jazz and classical music have a great deal in common.

23. If you sit anywhere in front of Maynard's band playing,
you will find sleep impossible. The sonic wave of the brass section alone will keep your eyelids peeled back.

He had great, young sidemen with him when I dug him many moons ago on the Left Coast.

Everyone should hear a great big-band play live. It will tickle virgin parts of your ears.

5. Wonderful!
Great for you brezzygirl! Unbelieveable trumpet player.

He's been doing school concerts for forever. He even came to my high school in the late 70s. Course we were all excited b/c we were in the band.

Edited on Fri Sep-12-03 07:32 PM by supernova
I played flute for a long time after I got out of school. I still have mine and play it from time to time, eventhough I'm very rusty.
