Could be spyware or other sort of nasty program getting in the way of things...

Do a search and try to download the following:

Spybot search and destroy
Ad-aware 6
Swat-it

3. The free versions do rather a good job

There's not much about the pay-for editions that are worth buying.


Also, what connection type are you using? I've 56k. Once in a great while, when the bandwidth is used by when downloading a bunch of programs at once from websites, some pages just won't load - they time out. But yours sounds like a different problem, though I felt I had to ask anyway. :-)

6. ok thanks but I think the programs hypno recommended

are working like a charm though
because I havent had to restore since I downloaded and install them.
