Poll question: Have you ever met a sitting President/PM/world leader?
I met President Clinton back in '97. He's got a firm handshake. :P

How about you?

When he was campaigning the first time around. Great speaker. I had my Elvis/Nixon shirt on, he chuckled.

At first it's like getting a punch in the gut, he certainly has a very commanding aura and an iron will. Then one realizes that he is pretty short, somehow that isn't visible on TV.

The time I actually got to speak with him (once met him shopping and a few times on party events), I was helping on the re-election campaign, so it is not like I had professional dealings with him. He is a real pro politician, no doubt about it.
His humble social background surfaces occasionally (albeit in a controlled way), sharing a case of beer with us campaigners seemed natural to him. So, yeah I think he is the real guy for the job and far more Social-Democratic than it appears.
I certainly wouldn't like to go against him, but I would even less like to buy a horse from him.

8. I Saw Jerry Ford in '76
When he visited South Texas. He tried to eat a Mexican tamale without first removing the corn husk wrapper. :dunce:

Poor Jerry! Nice guy but culturally clueless.

15. Yes, maybe.
I met the Mayor of Kathmandu, and I met him at Waterloo!

Family trip in Belgium. The mayor of Kathmandu is sort of like a national leader. There's not a whole heck of a lot of Nepal that's "organized" otherwise.

19. Yes. Sort of. Jimmy Carter.
I was living in Hawaii and Carter came to the Air Force Base we were living on. My parents took me to the receiving line. I got to shake his hand, as well as Mrs. Carter's.

26. Harry Truman. Met him one Sunday morning in church.
We used to laugh that there were more secret service agents in the congregation when the president attended than there were regular members of the church.
