Got hit by an SUV today...Ask me anything.
Hey there,

I got hit by an ass in a Ford Explorer who fled the scene earlier today. I was crossing at the corner, you know, they way you are supposed to, and this guy rolled into me and began to yell at me. I yelled back. after all, he's the one that had just rolled into mat at the crossing. Silly me, I though I had the right of way.

This pissed him of so much he stepped on the gas and tried to ram me. Luckily, I was able to pirouette out of the way and only got clipped. Still, I ended up sprawled two lanes away in oncoming traffic. I stood up and yelled, “get his plates, get his plates.” Then I noticed the blood on my hands and knee. My right leg had a baseball sized lump on it for a while today and oozed blood…bleh. When I finally did get to the emergency room, they had to pick glass and gravel out of me, and scrub the road tar off to find it.

The guy didn't stop, slow, nothing. While I was talking to the cop, he showed back up demanding that I PAY for the damage to his grill and driver's side mirror. He was yelling that I had attacked him and reached in his window. (Still managing to damage his grill and driver’s side mirror as he drove away mind you. Am I plastic man?) He called my getting hit drama and said I “faked” it. (Still managed to damage his vehicle though and then throw myself 25 feet. Hell, I may be SUPERMAN!)

Luckily, NONE of the witnesses backed his version of events. One woman who saw it was so livid at his behavior, claims, and attitude that she pleaded with me to press vehicular assault charges on him. She even called the police and got the responding officer’s boss on the scene, bless her.

In the end, I decided to get to the emergency room, get X-rayed, and file with his insurance. The cop found him at fault and luckily for me, no broken bones, only abrasions, cuts, bruises, two bad sprains, and one burst blood vessel in my knee. (Maybe I AM Superman :-) )

1. Death Penalty!
OMFG! We have to start making it harder for people to get a licence to drive. I'm serious.

Ok, ask you anything...

...Do you play any games online?

7. YES! I play Medal of Honor...
My handles are GoDean, and "G W Bush sucks and"

The "and" is a little trick. When I get fragged the server posts a message:

"G W Bush sucks and was fragged by whoever"

I've driven a couple of freepers insane this way, and if they want to stop and debate, I find a hidey hole and debate them. My favorite night was one where this guy with teh handle "BushForever" just couldn't shut his yap.

I'd post something he had to respond to like, "So why did Bush cause 911?" and then sneak over to his spawning place and kill him while he posted a reply. hee... hee..

2. Sandy - glad you're okay and prosecute the SOB
He deserves to have his license yanked for awhile. Let him feel how it is to be a pedestrian.

5. OMG!
Sounds awful. Glad you're relatively OK. I hate to say it, but you'll probably feel worse in the next day or two. Did they give you any pain meds?

I hope it's not too fresh, but you have to find some humor in the guy claiming YOU attacked his SUV. :wtf:

I also agree with the woman. It does sound like vehicular assault. He deliberately used his SUV to try to hit you. I would pursue it just for the sole fact that this guy NEEDS to be stopped. He might actually kill the next person who pisses him off.

Hope you feel better soon.

I fuckin hate the SUV drivers in this town. They're the one thing that would make me come out against gun control.

11. I am in ALAMEDA!!! Yay!
Where they keep the nuclear wessals if you've seen Star Trek iV.

Yeah I hat the SUV's as well. I'd say everyone who drives one should be shot, but I drive an 8-year-old Ford Explorer myself... so.... Hrmmm... I claim to have a good excuse though.

I work a mile from my home helping nonprofits with technology needs. I need something waterproof, lots of storage or people carrying capacity, that I can lock up. We live in an apartment, so I don't always have storage for computers that get donated.

When I went looking for a vehicle for the job, this was the only one that met my needs. If id found a similarly priced minivan, I'd have bought it.

Enough snivilling justification though. I hate to say it, it is the best car I've ever owned. I'm 6'4" tall, and I have NEVER been this comfortable in a vehicle. Of course, I don't use it to RAM people...

and I agree with the woman - you should file charges for vehicular assault and let the chips fall where they may. Make him pay a heavy fine and serve time in prison.

That's what happens to Repukes with a felony record - they get discredited faster than a Bush with proof of WMD.

all of October I might. The cop thinks his insurance will skyrocket after they settle with me. We'll have to see if that is enough.

19. go after them
You've got a good case, from the sounds of it. Start building it now by getting witness testimony in writing, signed and notarized. The more you put into this right now the more you will get out of him in the end.

20. maybe Sandy could get the guy disqualified from voting in 2004
Prosecuting him would be worth it for that reason alone.

Honestly, that SOB needs to be stopped before he kills someone. He probably went home and beat his wife and kids afterwards. I am suprised the cop let him go.

21. Glad you're ok
I came within INCHES of being rear ended in my little old Corolla by a Suburban yesterday. The driver was smoking, on his phone, and tailgating. I slowed to turn into a lot to let him pass - the moran didn't notice and nearly lost control of his monstrosity trying to brake (on old balding tires - they were squealing like mad) and avoid me.

Once a truck mirror came within 3 inches of my head while I was standing on a curb. For some reason the driver liked to drive way on the side of the lane... That one would have killed me outright, I think.

Driving laws need to be enforced way more aggressively - not just speeding, but tailgating and other idiocy as well. I also think that mandatory driver's tests should be done every 10 years, just like when you first get your license.

25. Tell you what, this changes the way I drive FOREVER.
That was just a little "tap" compared to what could have happened and it TOSSED 6'4" 300 lb. bear-of-a-man me 20 feet.

Today I feel like Indy in that scene on the ship in Raiders of teh Lost Ark.

Where Marion says:

"Damnit Indy, Where doesn't it hurt?"

No, I'll be watching for peds like a hawk now.

Too few people will stop and invest the time to right the wrong. Maybe this guy has watched too many Infinity comercials where the whole world has separate highways and people are frozen in time.
