How do you lose a fight when you absolutely dominate in all stats?

1. Saw that last night. The numbers are lop-sided. For Oscar.

Yet even Kellerman on ESPN scored it 116-114 for Mosely. I'd like to see it for myself though before I form any real opinions on the fight.

As to corruption, I can only say that it helps everyone make more money if Oscar won, I simply don't get it:shrug:

2. True story about fixed boxing.

Back in the 1980s I worked as a bartender in NYC. We had customer - an older local type barfly - who was the neighborhood bookie.

I'll never forget the day he came in a week before the Sugar Ray Leonard/Marvin Haggler fight. He was making book for the event with the customers and the managers. Since we bartenders always slipped him a few freebies, he waited until the place had cleared out, and then he let me and my buddy in on it:

"Look, the fix is in. Leonard will win this fight. The only way Haggler can win is a knockout. Anything but a knockout, and Leonard wins it. I guarantee it. TRUST ME. Put as large a bet on Leonard as you can."

Neither of us could believe it because we thought Haggler would kick his ass (which he did, BTW). Still, this guy was SO adamant. Too bad for us, but we placed only our usual not-too-much-to-lose bets: "I'm telling you, go bigger. You'll make a LOT of money," he said.

We didn't. Haggler LOST (duh!) - and the I-told-you-so's started immediately the next day.
