Pittsburgh Gathering
I searched the Lounge to make sure that no one else posted anything about it...

But it was a very nice afternoon gathering. Thanks goes to Spinbaby who finally got us together...

So happy to see...

1. Yes, it was really nice.
I'm very impressed with (and a little intimidated by) the level of knowledge and intelligence in this group! Very articulate and informed. No wonder I usually stick to the Lounge :)!

2. It was fun...
...and I am sorry I had to take off early.

I got there early and had a chance to listen to Spin griping about her putting the event together after waiting for someone else to organize the gathering (me being the someone else). I sat quietly at another table then introduced myself...

Great group of people!

Later,
JM

5. So, you're planning the next one, are you?
It was fun, though, wasn't it.

And there's so much to talk about.

6. It was a good get togther.

I hope I did not talk to much (I have a habit of going on and on that I am trying to keep in check), but beside my rambling it was a good meeting, we just have to meet in a more centralized location next time, anybody for Altoona?

Seriously, the next meeting place should be closer to Pittsburgh proper, Given that most people travel by Automobile somewhere along one of the interstates would be good. That leaves us Monroeville, Little Washington or Robinson Township. My first choice would be something along the young trail, but that would have to be bring your own dinner.

Other Suggestions (To be used before the weather turns bad, or after Spring starts):
1. One of the pavilions along the Panhandle trail in Upper Washington County.

2. Cedar Creek Park in Westmoreland county (off 51 with the Yough trail going through it).

Anyone else has a preferred location?

Also it was mentioned how Light Rail could be expanded in the Pittburgh Area. See the following. This is an old State web site of rails to trails in Pennsylvania, but it also has Graphics regarding both existing and abandoned Rail lines in Pennsylvania. Most plans for Light Rail follows these lines for you can run fright and passenger service togther. Light rail can be Electric with the Fright staying diesel. Such dual system have NOT been tried since diesel replaced steam. Steam (given the soot and steam they gave out) was incompatible with Electic ovee hanging wire, but since the type of pollution is different with the conversion to diesel, I do not see any problem with running overhanging wires on these tracks.
