I don't believe this. They're like the fucking Sith from Star Wars. They get beaten down, then over the course of a century they slowly begin to infect the government that defeated them. Before we know it, the Jedi (us) are rendered ineffectual while they take control of America.

I'm talking about the ideals of the ignorant people with confederate flags slapped to their bumpers, not the region in general.

What we're seeing now is the America that would have arisen if the Confederate traitors had won the War to End Southern Slavery (aka Civil War, but since they like to call it the War between the States, I like to call it that!).

It's the lowest common denominator come to terrible fruition. The part of the US with the worst schools, the worst social services, the lowest standard of living, and the most reactionary social structure dominates the political scene.

I don't mean to offend or denigrate our Southern DUers--in fact, I admire and respect you the most of all--but by specific measurements, that's how it is, IMHO.
