Mr. Moonbeam and I cannot talk to each other right now
I am feeling very sad and wanting to talk and he is sad and angry but his way is he doesn't want to hear about it.

So I've got you guys.

We are sniping at each other so we decided it would be best if we just didn't say anything for a while. He seems to misinterpret everything I say and we got into it over why his stupid mother won't ever listen to me when I nicely ask her, over and over, not to send me freeper emails, like her latest, today, which was "why Jane Fonda is a traitor."

2. Big hug!!!
We are all upset and each processing in our own way. My partner has let me yell, and scream, and cry. I had given up hope earlier, but I am feeling a little better now, I am not sure why, but I do. I hope you will too!

4. My mother's a Kerry supporter BUT
this morning via IM's she went into this zen-like philosophy... basically telling me to just breathe easy.... let it all go... which was really quite infuriating being as I was just finding out about the results.

6. I've been monitoring my phone calls
today because I could just imagine my former freeper friend calling -from FL-to rub it in. But she has restrained herself so far. I'm sorry for you, Ms. Moonbeam and others with similar experiences, as it's dispicable for people to be rubbing it in.

5. I'm sorry
and I totally understand. I think I'm being a little short with Mr. Vote. If he isn't mad enough or sad enough at the right moment... well, you know... I think it will be a few days before we can talk about anything that matters, because I'm being overly sensitive.

We all have to lean on each other around here, and maybe that will save us from taking out some of our pain and anger on our loved ones.

7. What is the Obsession over 'Nam?
I was born after that. I don't understand the rightwing's fixation over things that happened so long ago. It's just another distraction from the really important contemporary issues. They have got screwed-up priorities.

8. I am so glad we all have each other.
I wish there was some way we could make it even more tangible. I know that there are many of us who will not experience any personal (other than psychological) effects from the coming administration, but so many have job and financial issues that I would give everything I have to make it better for them. I want so much to take over an island someplace and make sure that every DUer has a good life. It is absolutely crushing to know how much people will suffer.

10. Well my "rightie" husband
is walking on eggshells right now. He offered to cook dinner for me tonight and is grilling some nice steaks as we speak. Before anyone flames for being married to a rightie you have know 2 things.

1. I married him 28 years ago so we have been in this situation before. Sometimes I win...sometimes he does...we learned to make it work. I take solice in the fact that our 2 daughter voted for Kerry.

2. How can I be mad a person who offered to cross party lines and vote for Howard Dean in the Texas primary just to help me get my guy in?

I hear you, Moonbeam.

Mr. Feistydem and I are both handling this differently right now too. I am talking about leaving the country and he is giving me the "this too will pass" patronizing tone.

He'll overload on MSNBC and CNN tonight and I'll go read in bed --until West Wing comes on.

Nah, man, I want him to be AS pissed off as I am. I want him to have a fucking meltdown like I have.

But we can't require people to have matching reactions to us, I guess. He's coping in his own way.

24. my husb and I are at about the same place
it has been a weird last few weeks. I was canvassing and I was so happy at the polls yesterday with all the great new voters here in Pa. It was very encouraging, so this is a big, big letdown. (although I was never convinced there would be a landslide). We have both been through this before with Reagan, although this is much worse. I hibernated today and I am trying to get some sort of balance.

best to you guys.

12. That happened to me & my husband at 8:15 west coast time last night.
That was just about the time it became clear that the fix is in. He went into meltdown mode, we had a short, stupid fight (over which news channel to watch), he stormed upstairs to read for about half an hour, then came down and decided we needed to clean the house (to get our minds off it, I suppose). Whatever, it chilled him out.

Sometimes even two dems can chew each other up, even when they're on the same side. ;-)

Storm passed, and now we're being depressed together.

14. We're definitely two dems
sometimes he's even more liberal than I am and that's kinda hard to do.

But we're just in different places right now in how we are dealing with this. He got upset at me for saying I wanted to kick any * voting friends to the curb and I pointed out we aren't all that close to any of them who voted for him, anyway, then he tried to say "that isn't the woman I know and respect, you don't do that" and I said "I do now, babe." I tried to explain to him why but he griped about having to hear "all this shit again." WTF??? It was the first time I had explained it to him!!!

So THAT pissed me off. Plus he's sick, but he keeps bringing the shit up! I finally told him let's just chill. No talking. So besides him bitching about the litter box, it's been pretty quiet. (Little Moonbeam is sick.)

and sent to Iraq. When you are there I hope they send you on a mission without proper armor in an unprotected area of Iraq without air cover. And if you make it back...I hope they will have given your 8.00 an hour job away. Then you won't have any hospitalization left for that for terminal disease i hope you get.

21. Oh yeah!
We have been at each others throats for a few weeks now. Both strong steady Dems and both so pissed off it is unbelievable but I am reacting very badly to this. I was raised by an archaic and abusive and patronizing father and I see this starting up again in our society with this group so what do I do? I jump down my husbands throat every time he mentions anything that sounds like it could even be close to an order. He does not mean it that way but it sounds like that in my over reactive mind. Today it was constant sniping. We both know why so we will get through it but goddamn it is NOT fun for either of us.

22. Hey,
so much for my 'avoiding talking about it' for a few days. Between the time I posted above and now, Mr. Vote and I just had a big fight. He just isn't scared enough. Sometimes I think he thinks I'm a conspiracy nut when I talk about some things, like PNAC and the draft. Well, considering we have two kids of draft age, he should be scared shitless.

We've been married for 25 years, and we'll get through this. And this gives me greater appreciation for what my sister is going through. She's married to a repub who actually DID vote for Kerry (he actually voted against bush), but only after he was forced to read stacks of conservative endorsements of Kerry and tons of other lit.

OK, we're now in separate rooms on our computers. We might speak to each other later during West Wing, unless I start in on how a tv president would be better than what we have now.

25. so many people that I know are feeling just the same way ...
so many do not want to "talk" about it ... so many others need someone to "listen" to the ache in their hearts ... so many have marked a day of mourning by not even turning on the television news..
(I wonder what the ratings for the various tv stations are tonight. Judging by the people I know who have refused to turn on their tvs to the news channels... their ratings must have gone down by quite a bit)!

My husband and I have mentioned to each other the possibility that the bush goons may have threatened kerry's life if he went ahead with the recount. they actually threatened the clintons back in 1992 (the clintons never paid attention to it--nor did they make a big deal. david talbot mentioned the fact in an article in salon magazine during the 2000 election cycle).

i think january 20th needs to be called by the different anti-bush organizations as a national day of mourning to celebrate and mourn our diminishing democracy at the hands of the bush goons.
