Just want to hear the diverse regionalisms from my DU friends.

1. You left out...
an option for "both". 'Cause now that you made me stop and think about it I realize I don't consistently use one or the other.

2. Thanks, Vel.
I'll edit that in.

As we Texans (and former Texans) say: 'Pree-shaydit'!

3. You're a former Texan?
Excellent. I knew there was a reason I liked you. :-)

5. Born and raised in San Antonio. Me and my sister both.
My mom's from Montgomery, Alabama and my dad is from O.K. City, Oklahoma. He was military, so we moved around a lot. He retired at Ft. Lewis, WA and we've been here ever since. I love the Northwest. Lots of trees. And tree-huggers :-)

6. It's just like with US citizenship...

if you were born here then you're a Texan (unlike our pretzeldent).

San Antonio huh? Boy, I bet you've been to the Alamo a time or 2 in school...snort.

Oh, and see. There were other people besides me who use "both". I don't feel like such a freak now. :-)

8. Yep, used to visit the Alamo every once in a while.
It was fun listening to the tourists. "Whoa dude! Like, it's so small! I thought it'd be, you know, like, bigger."

They don't know that the chapel is all that is left of the Alamo. Most of downtown San Antonio is built over what was the entire Alamo mission.

9. The Alamo is neat to visit...
it gives you such a sense of history. But for sheer fun it's better to visit the set where they filmed the John Wayne movie "The Alamo". The sets are still up on the ranch where they filmed it and you can wander around and play a lot more than they let you at the real Alamo.

11. God save me from any shrine to John Wayne.
Sorry if you're a fan, but that reich-wing chickenhawk just makes me sick. Hated all of his movies.

7. A cranky pronunciation expert insists AHN-velope is wrong
ENN-velope, this guy says (and it is'nt me, it's the author of a book I read while bored one night a few years ago), is the standard English--and he stressed English, as opposed to French--pronuciation. I've taught myself to say ENN-velope, ever since, but when I think about it now, I don't see the big deal. Every one I've ever known has pronounced it AHN-velope.

10. Depends on my mood.
I lean toward EN-velope, though when feeling haughty AHN-velope will escape my lips.
