of their teeth always come up. Making fun of their stupidity, lack of spelling ability and support of a party who screws them in return is one thing, but why is it so funny to make fun of someone's health condition? If a person was missing a limb and couldn't afford a replacement, would it be fun to mock them for it, too?

The reason many people have missing teeth is a lack of insurance and affordable dental care. I don't find it amusing. I think it is sad and if health care measures are passed, dental care needs to be included as well. Then to have people make fun of people who lack the means to afford a perfect smile on top of it is disgraceful.

Lounge posters in recent weeks have no doubt read the woes of one DUer who had to go through the trauma of losing her teeth and many other DUers chimed in that they or their relatives have missing teeth or have had to get caps, partials or dentures. Are you going to make fun of them as well? Imagine how they must feel when they read these comments.

If someone has a propensity toward diabetes and they didn't eat properly or exercise as they were directed, would they be a target for humiliation as well? After all, there were some factors under their control in this situation, too.

Once while I was driving through western Virginia (not West Virginia, but close), I heard a radio ad for a local dentist. He was running a special--get free dentures if you have 20 or more teeth removed. Unfortunately, the custom those parts is to just let your teeth rot and, when they get rotten enough, replace them with shiny new dentures.

It's not about "stats" - it's about actually knowing people who have lived in trailers. The stereotypes are an attack on poor people, who are much less likely to have internet access.

If you read the FR boards, you'll see that there is a lot of poor people bashing going on there as well.

I think you've got the freeper "lifestyle" all wrong.

Some prejudices are apparently more "PC" than others. That's why some vigilante "alerted" my post and got it deleted, while the more offensive ones remain.

They have no equivalent of The Lounge, but do post some lighthearted threads in their General Discussion forum.
