"Bubba Ho-tep"?
THIS sounds like a movie to see! From the Rotten Tomatoes synopsis:

Based on the Bram Stoker Award nominee short story by acclaimed author Joe R. Lansdale, Bubba Ho-tep tells the “true” story of what really did become of Elvis Presley. We find Elvis(Bruce Campbell) as an elderly resident in an East Texas rest home, who switched identities with an Elvis impersonator years before his “death”, then missed his chance to switch back. Elvis teams up with Jack(Ossie Davis), a fellow nursing home resident who thinks that he is actually President John F. Kennedy, and the two valiant old codgers sally forth to battle an evil Egyptian entity who has chosen their long-term care facility as his happy hunting grounds…

Bruce Campbell? Ossie Davis? Elvis battling ancient Eqyptian beings? I am SO there! (And the critics are raving!)

2. You may have to wait some time
The film has had an impossible time getting a distributer. It's actually more than two years old, I believe.

4. My 2 year old has made "Bubba ho-Tep" part of his permanent vocab
Don Coscarelli is a great director, Bruce Cambell and Ozzie Davis are great actors, and the story is a hoot.

So, someone, tell me why this isn't getting but a limited NYC.LA release?????

7. It's being released a lot of places in October
Chicago, Detroit, etc. They had a really hard time finding a distributer in spite of it's rave reviews at the various film festivals. I guess since it doesn't fit into any specific genre, it was a hard sell.

Had a chance to meet Lansdale over the summer -- the flick sounds like a good one, all right, though most of us may have to wait 'til DVD time to see it...

6. I've seen it!
It is SO good. I caught it at the East lansing film festival. It had the audience rolling. It is extremely well made, well acted and is actually pretty sweet. I cannot understand why this movie isn't getting wide distribution, word of mouth would ensure millions for this flick.

8. Sounds right up my alley
Darn it, it sounds like something I could have scripted.

I'm there. Even if I have to wait for the DVD.
