first hint of lightening and thunder.....and once the storm starts has to be dragged in.....Her brother.....doesn't like anything to do with storms and (being a true male) does much bravado of stalking the screened porch doing a "high tail in the air" and gives a little Siamese yip to his sister before he heads upstairs and goes under the covers.
My reading is that animals "sense danger" and try to warn humans of storms. I get mixed signals here from my two kitties (brother and sister) all the time......with the female (who is the most cautious of the two with strangers) loving violent storms and the male who takes up with anyone who walks in the front door and loves them "scenting" all over them.....heading for cover when the first sign of something weather related comes up.
Now.......today here in NC BOTH my cats have been totally "out of control. Running, chasing, rumpus....fights all day today! Very agitated and upset. We are under a hurricane warning......but since one loves storms and the other heads for cover.....yet both are in a "manic mode" today.........what am I to think?
Any of you have "mixed signals" from your pets.......how do you read the signs, particularly from cats....and are their senses any better than ours? Or, do their personalities take over as to "love of danger" just like peoples do?
My female cat.....is a "Dare Devil Sky Jumper, Love of Danger Type," whereas my Male.....loves the comfort and security of snoozing under the quilts at the first sgn of danger.
Odd........if you are a student of animal behavior whose read about "senses of danger" from the animal kingdom...books.....
