I've been beating up on FReepers in my U.S. History class

My U.S. history class always seems to come down to tax fairness debates. First, last week one of the kids said "The top 1% pays half the taxes in this country." I told him it was about 33% or so, and he denied it. I happened to have a chart with me that backed me up, which I tossed towards him and said "thanks for playing, bucko." Yeah, I'm an asshole.

Today he busted out a chart that said that the top 50% of wage earners pay over 96% of the income taxes. Now, I recognized that stat and said "That's from Rush Limbaugh's website, right?" He looked a little unsettled, since I looked like I was about to kick his ass. Which I was. I explained that the top 50%, which isn't entirely made up of the wealthy, also earns about 87% of the income in the country, and holds over 97% of the wealth. That shut him up. I love it when I just remember these little facts.

By the way, are all FReeper kids fat?

Though my overweight condition is mostly contributed to a medication that I took in high school that gained water weight. Either way, I've lost over 15 lbs. in the past 6 weeks or so.

about weight. I think that's awesome you're kicking their butt with the facts, even cooler that you carry around charts. :thumbsup: But you should win with the facts and the truth. IMHO, making fun of the way people look is what the other side does and reflects poorly on you.

I didn't call them fat to their faces. It's just that there are three of them, and they are all obese. And in my political science club, the only righties are overweight (literally no exceptions). I was really just making an observation I thought was funny, I have plenty of chubby friends.
