3. great and tough choice--both wrote so many great songs

For me the key was the word "listen" and I find Dylan's style to be very "unversatile." Frankly, he gets boring after a pretty short time. The Beatles play rock, country, pop, folk, you name it.

The Beatles are my "only listen to one" choice.

But I am S-O-O-O glad I don't have to make that choice in the real world!

5. In fairness, Dylan went through many genres too

and was experimental but The Beatles stayed experimental after they had been influenced by Dylan.

Truly a tough choice and glad to have the choices of genius of both in our real world. I voted for Dylan. My wife would have voted for The Beatles. She's a bassist though, heh,heh,heh...

I'm a songwriter, so I can't fault any of the classic early Dylan.

And the stuff with the Band and then Blood on the Tracks, I can listen to repeatedly indefinitely.

Many many of the songs are endlessly wonderful. and its only "boring" by comparison with the musical smorgasbord that is the Beatles catalog.

I'm very heavily into lyrics and I still prefer the Beatles :-). Though I do like Dylan songs when done by other people.

7. Jimi Hendrix didn't do too many cover songs

yet he covered both Bob Dylan and The Beatles as well as The Troggs.

Hands down..

I think he speaks more to the temper of our times than the Beatles did, - much as I liked them.

I will always pick up a guitar and play Dylan tunes as they pop up in my head, but I think as musical and innovative as the Beatles are, I am left in search of more depth and resonnance.

Dylan is it.

I appreciate his last several albums more with each listen and to me the music is wonderful. That he has consistently produced such great work and that he is one man with that body of work makes him my choice.

As much as I respect Dylan for his songwriting, his singing leaves (and always has left) much to be desired. Geddy Lee is a better singer, and that's pretty sad.

to emphasis the poetry of his lyrics. His singing is more like spoken word performance art than straight singing.
