1. I haven't done enough,

plan to mention it to more, but most of the people I know are not very liberal or do not use Internet.

2. I actually posted the address

on a couple of websites where I know a lot of Democrats are. Since then I've been told by several they come here regularly! One was a regional band website. The forum got very political right before the war. I've also e-mailed the address to a few friends.

I won't say it's perfect, but for information and finding out there are a LOT of people like me, it's close.

3. I tell lots of people, but only one I know of has actually registered.

I don't think she has posted yet. Where are you Democratic M.A.?

But I don't know of anyone who is registered because of my acts.

5. THERE IS A GROUP OF US

that work Yahoo chat daily with that among other motives as an express purpose. It is impossible to know the effect in terms of numbers, but positive responses are common. There are real people out there from all over the world who lean in our direction and who have only to know where they can in more reasoned manner communicate with others of like mind.

6. Right now it is too hateful to introduce

any of my friends to discuss democratic issues at this site. The freeper and flame post are an embarrasement.

7. From time to time I print out a leaflet listing alternative sites. . .

including DU, Buzzflash, Truthout, AlterNet, WorkingForChange, etc.

I hand out this leaflet at Meetups and other political gatherings.

10. I Mention DU to a Lot of People,

but I don't know that any of them have become members. So I didn't know how to answer the poll question.

11. Tried in the past only to have them come here

and be offended by the vulgarity and the rage. Won't bother again.

I can handle it, but not everyone is willing to wade through the garbage to find the good stuff.

It was my ex-girlfriend who went nuts and no longer goes here, so I don't know if that even counts.

I try to shamelessly plug DU as often as I can to other College Democrats, but to my knowledge that hasn't resulted in any new members.
